I used to love playing that game, red alert was great fun!

yep, I was sad enough to have 3 computers all linked on a home network when I was a kid and that was one we played a hell of a lot, along with Duke Nukem 3d and Carmageddon....I was such a nerd!

Don't knock old school games.
If you could network windows 95 well enough to get a game of Quake going, you were good enough to do any networking job.
Got my student job that way. Went for the interview, on the way out saw the other techies playing quake, still using the keyboard and laughed. They invited me in and I proceeded to hand them their own asses using the mouse. I still claim to this day that I was hired so they could learn how I did it and beat me.

yeah, suppose I am still a nerd. Still spend hours locked in my room beating off to free internet p0rn, have an amazing ability to use the mouse with my left hand and still play games (only now its on an Xbox). All I need to do next is start building my collection of Games Workshop models and Star Trek memorabilia and Ill enter the levels of uber geekdom.

forget it, there I was defending you, but I think I need to leave you to your unopened star trek figurines and a box of kleenex.

on a more serious note I get what youre saying Pete, I had my home network nailed on Win95 using some 3com cards I bought 2nd hand at a comp fair and a load of borrowed cable. The great thing was that I did all this at age 14 but it landed me in so much trouble at the school, they used to think that because I knew all about networks I was hacking the systems at school
